Landlock is an environmentally friendly, highly engineered asphalt reclamation "glue" for cart path construction and rehabilitation. Cartpaths constructed with Land- lock can be built quickly and will usually last 10 years or longer with basic mainte- nance, the company says. Landlock typically costs 20 percent to 30 percent less than asphalt and 40 percent to 60 percent less than concrete. For courses that have never paved cart paths or are trying to achieve a natural look, Landlock's surface-paving solutions allow courses to eliminate dust and erosion commonly associated with gravel and decomposed granite pathways, the company says. Stabilization of cart paths can reduce costs associated with ongoing maintenance and aggregate purchases. Smaller equipment can be used on courses to minimize the footprint and impact on the course during construction. It can be used for bunker construction and stabilization during renovations and redesigns much in the same way bunker construction companies use polymeric solutions, the company says. Landlock has no adverse effect on vegetation and wildlife. Visit Landlock, www.landlocknaturalpaving.com. Smithco introduced the Ultra 10-foot and Ultra 15-foot tow-be- hind fairway rollers . The company says a three-year study by the University of Massachusetts found up to 65 percent reduction of dollar spot incidence at the highest frequency of rolling. A Michigan State University study shows a reduction of clippings while mowing three days a week from 9.80 grams on the no-rolled plots to 3.80 when rolling twice weekly to 2.22 when rolling three times weekly. Rolling is roughly twice as fast as mowing at significantly less cost, the company says. Michigan State also found surface hardness measures, when measured with a TruFirm device, went from 883 to 772 to 582 on the same schedule. Superintendents are reporting driving distances are increased from 7 to 20 yards, all without increasing bulk density in the soil. The Ultra 10 is 10 feet wide and rolls 12 acres an hour at 10 mph; the Ultra 15 covers 18 acres an hour at 10 mph. Visit Smithco, www.smithco.com.
