Mr. Derrick, a six-year member of GCSAA, was an assistant superintendent at Aber- deen Golf Club in Eureka, Mo. He also was a third-generation employee of the family business, Derrick Soap. In December 1992, he survived a serious accident. He was well respected for his honesty and desire to lend a helping hand to those in need, and his positive attitude was a source of strength and hope to his wide community of family, friends and custom- ers. "He loved golf. He was our chemicals man. He developed some concoctions we were able to use," says Aberdeen owner Rocky Dollarhide. "Everybody at the course misses him." Derrick will be honored there with a plaque on the walking bridge between the fifth tee and fifth green. Mr. Derrick is survived by his wife, Mary L. Derrick; daughters, Stacy (Bryan) Kesting; Jessica (Jeff) Pozzi; and Alison Derrick; grandchildren, Jackson, Caroline and Claire Kesting and Hayden and Amelia Pozzi; sister, Cynthia (Rich) Juengel; father, John Ray Derrick; and other relatives. James M. Taylor Sr., CGCS Retired, 72, died March 14, 2018. Mr. Taylor, a 46-year member of GCSAA, entered the U.S. Air Force after high school. Upon his return from Vietnam, Mr. Taylor earned an associ- ate's degree in agronomy from Penn State University. His first superintendent job was at West Chester (Pa.) Golf & Country Club. He later worked at the Philadelphia Cricket Club for five years before going to Kanawha County Parks & Recreation in Charleston, W.Va. Later, he worked at Green Tree Country Club in Midland, Texas. In 1990, the Taylor family moved overseas, where Taylor oversaw Hatsuho Country Club in Japan. Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Lynn; children, Cassie, Jimmy (Danyel), and Alicia (Shawn); grandchil- dren, Jordan (Evan), Kaiyya Lynn, Rebecca, Olivia, Chase, Charlotte, and Haven; sister, Faith; brother, Hiram; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
