Toro says the low total life-cycle ownership cost of Yanmar's diesel engines along with innovative technology and reduced environmental impact were deciding factors in its deci- sion to form a partnership with Yanmar. The first Toro products to feature Yanmar's Tier 4-compliant diesel engine technology will be select commercial mowers over 25 hp. Jacobsen announced it now is serving customers in California, Arizona and southern Nevada directly through its Jacobsen West operation. It is a new dealership that replaces its former dealer, Golf Ventures West. Jacobsen West plans to service hun- dreds of golf courses and sports fields, including such notable Jacobsen cus- tomers as Pebble Beach Golf Links and The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Colorado State University received a dona- tion for its football field at Hughes Stadium from Direct Solutions, Swingle Lawn, Tree and Landscape Care, and Agrium Advanced Technologies' "Spread it & Forget it" con- trolled-release fertilizer to support the univer- sity's sustainability efforts. Agrium says that "Spread it & Forget it" has multiple benefits, including reduction of nitrogen by up to 40 percent and lowering potential for product leaching and volatilization into the environment, and that the product enabled the university to reduce the number of applications, allowing for cost savings by using less fuel. 18-hole golf course, a 30,000-square- foot clubhouse with an extensive golf shop and snack bar, a 4-acre practice range and teaching center, and a free- standing banquet facility. Stone Creek GC has been the site of the Big 10 men's and women's golf champion- ships, USGA men's amateur qualifier, Illinois men's state amateur and other significant events. Stone Creek GC serves as the home course for the University of Illinois men's and women's teams. KemperSports is providing comprehensive management of the premium public facility, which includes an 102 GCM December 2012 The Toro Co. announced a part- nership with Yanmar America Corp., who will provide diesel engines for select Toro commercial turf mainte- nance equipment. The Yanmar diesel engines will allow Toro to comply with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Tier 4 emissions regulations, The fifth annual WaterSmart Innovations Conference and Exposition in early October in Las Vegas drew more than 900 par- ticipants from 33 states, the District of Columbia and seven foreign nations. The program featured comprehensive professional sessions, panel discus- sions, and pre-conference workshops. "It's critical that we accelerate adop- tion of water efficiency concepts in urban environments," says Doug Ben- nett, program chairman. "As a peer-to- peer conference, our attendees have the opportunity to get the most current information on what's working." J. Carl Ganter, co-founder and director of Circle of Blue (the internationally recognized website that reports on global freshwater issues), delivered the keynote address.
