42 GOLF COURSE MANAGEMENT 04.18 The 2018 Golf Industry Show brought the gold standard in golf course management education, a bustling trade show and the industry's pre-eminent networking event to the Lone Star State. GCM staff San Antonio offers plenty of options to visitors — history at the Alamo, amazing shops and restaurants along the Riverwalk, great golf, and this month, the NCAA Final Four. But for one week in February at least, those offerings took a bit of a backseat to the biggest event in golf course management— the 2018 Golf Industry Show. This year's GIS offered up plenty of what has made it the greatest show on turf, from an exhibit space at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center that fea - tured trained dogs, real-grass greens and sand-filled bunkers, and the industry's latest and greatest products and services, to world-class education and out-of- this-world networking. This year's event brought 11,700 attendees to San Antonio, a drop of 6 per - cent from the total number that attended GIS the last time it visited the city in 2015. The trade show featured 531 exhibitors and covered 184,000 square feet CONNECT. DISCOVER. ELEVATE. San Antonio state of mind
