76 GOLF COURSE MANAGEMENT 03.18 (industry news) Jacobsen and BIGGA have chosen a team of Future Turf Manager Initiative (FTMI) graduates to join the course maintenance team for this year's Ry- der Cup at Le Golf National in France. The selected BIGGA members are Leigh Powell, Windlesham Golf Club (FTMI class of 2013); Peter Moore, The Wen- tworth Club (FTMI class of 2014); Gavin Neill, St. Andrews Links Trust (FTMI class of 2015); Richard Johnstone, Nairn Dunbar Golf Links (FTMI class of 2016); and Adrian McCullough, JCB Golf & Country Club (FTMI class of 2017). Jacobsen and BIGAA have worked closely with Alejandro Reyes (pictured), the golf courses and estates manager at Le Golf Na- tional (L'Albatros course will host the Ryder Cup), to offer this potentially career-defining opportunity for BIGGA members for the first time. The 2018 Ryder Cup, Sept. 28-30, will mark only the second time the event has been held in continental Europe. Ryder Cup READY Yamaha Golf-Car Company named David Willis its 2017 Salesman of the Year. "David had an exemplary year as a sales professional, exceeding his annual sales goal by 50 percent and excelling in client retention, new business acquisition and daily administrative obligations," says Brooks West, the company's national sales manager of direct sales. "In addition to all of his professional accolades, David is an even better person. We are lucky to have him." Based out of Tampa, Fla., Willis supports the Florida PGA Sections by co-sponsoring a variety of charity events and PGA-sanctioned competitions. He has been Yamaha's district sales manager for central and southwest Florida for the past five years, and has an extensive background in the golf industry, having worked at Peachtree Golf Club in Atlanta (a perennially top 50-ranked course) and Athens (Ga.) Country Club. 2018 Ryder Cup Advanced Turf Solutions has appointed two new golf course sales representatives in Ohio: Matt Welch in northeast Ohio, and Don Lawrence in northwest Ohio. Welch brings 17 years of experience in the industry and was formerly a golf equipment sales representative at Century Equipment, the Toro distributor for Ohio. Earlier in his career, Welch spent 10 years as a golf course superintendent. Lawrence joins Advanced Turf Solutions with decades of experience in sales, golf course management and accounting. He was previously in sales in the turf division of Legacy Farmers Cooperative, and was the superintendent and later general manager at Red Hawk Run Golf Course in Findlay, Ohio, for 10 years. Honours Golf , a division of Troon , has been selected to manage the Mystic Creek Golf Club in El Dorado, Ark. Established in May 2013, the semiprivate Mystic Creek is nestled among the cathedral pines of southern Arkansas. The club's 18-hole Kenneth Dye Jr.-designed course was immediately recognized as
