78 GOLF COURSE MANAGEMENT 10.17 Club Car Wise WATERING Rain Bird launched its 500/550 series rotors, which give superintendents an option for water- ing tee boxes, greens and other smaller areas of the course. According to Rain Bird, the 500/550 series are the only valve-in-head golf course rotors on the market that offer a radius of 28 to 49 feet. The rotors feature robust, reliable construction, top-serviceable arc adjustment and pressure regulation, and easy access to internal components. The 500 model has a radius of 28 to 47 feet and a full-circle, 360-degree arc, while the 550 covers a radius of 28 to 49 feet, with an arc that's adjustable from 30 to 345 degrees. Both the 500 and 550 are equipped with a new low-angle nozzle for 28-foot coverage. Flow rates range from 7.25 gpm to 13.20 gpm for the 500 model, and 7.25 to 13.60 gpm for the 550. Rain Bird 500/550 series rotors are available in "IC" models that are compatible with the company's popular Integrated Control System, which connects the central control system directly to every rotor and valve. The boxes address problems with damaged panels and corners, water intrusion, and security. One is designed specifically to fit Carryall 500 work utility vehicles and street-legal Carryall 510 LSVs (low-speed vehicles) with standard lockable double rear doors. The second is de- signed for Carryall 700 work utility vehicles and street-legal Carryall 710 LSVs. The larger box for the Carryall 700/710 features three lockable double doors — one set on each side and one set on the back. Other features include interior LED lighting for greater visibility, and bolt-on panels to allow for easy replacement. Reinforced corners increase durability in commercial applications. There are no windows, which eliminates leaking and improves cargo security. Unlatched doors have magnetic catches for easier opening and closing, especially on inclines. The boxes come standard in white or gray. The high-mount brake light and backup light system improve visibility and safety. To reduce shipping costs, the box systems are available pre-assembled for domestic shipments, and dealer-assembled for international shipments. Visit Club Car, www.clubcar.com. LINNE Industries announced a lease financing option for solar pond aeration, which will allow golf courses to improve their water quality without any upfront expense.
