Mark Kubic, 62, died April 23, 2017. Mr. Kubic, a 31-year member of GCSAA, graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in biology from Fitchburg (Mass.) State University. He worked as the golf course superintendent at Fiddlesticks Country Club in Fort Myers, Fla., from 1992 to 2000. In that span, he oversaw bunker reconstruction, tee additions and three green reconstructions. In 2000, he became the superintendent at Legends Golf & Country Club in Fort Myers, where he remained until 2015. There, he managed a reconstruction project for all greens, tees, bunkers, drainage, irrigation and several fairways. Legends G&CC averaged more than 62,000 rounds annually. A 20-year member of the Florida Turfgrass Association, Kubic was a crew volunteer during the U.S. Open in 2006 at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y. Mr. Kubic is survived by his daughter, Alexandra Satkowiak.
