Lincoln. Harris Laboratories, located in Lincoln, specializes in soil, water and plant tissue analysis of turfgrasses. Dow AgroSciences announced that Mae Council had joined the turf and ornamental team as a sales representative. She replaced Scott Potter, who retired after 40 years of service. Council is assisting customers in Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming. She has worked at Dow AgroSciences since June 2012 as a turf and ornamental sales trainee. Council graduated from Purdue with a degree in animal sciences and English literature. Ken Cooper was appointed new chairman at Braemer Golf following the retirement from the company of founder David Dean. Cooper previously was a silent partner in the business. Also, company fnance director Andrew McIntyre is taking on a more strategic role as he leads the newly formed Advisory Division. Operations director Michael Braidwood was appointed a full director, and Phil Jones takes the role of regional director covering both the Middle East and Russia. Jim Petta was promoted to manager of the biorational business unit at Valent U.S.A. Corp. The unit is responsible for the company's growing portfolio of biological crop protection and crop enhancement products for agriculture in North America. Petta previously led the Valent U.S.A. aquatics business as part of the Valent Professional Products unit. He has more than 20 years of experience in the aquatics, crop, turf and ornamental business. Kevin Ring was named chief marketing offcer of the PGA of America. Ring previously served as vice president at IMG Consulting. Ring is reporting directly to Pete Bevacqua, PGA of America's chief executive offcer. He is charged with developing and managing integrated marketing plans for the PGA of America that are the association's assets. Chinese course open for business Boyd Rose joined WatErtronics as their new application manager. He is responsible for scaling the Applications Group to support the expanding needs of WatErtronics' markets. Rose has 28 years of experience in the industry. GOLF briefs Tashua Knolls Golf Course in Trumbull, Conn., and Flanders Valley Golf Course in Flanders, N.J., was awarded First Links grants from the Grow the Game initiative. Robert McNeil, ASGCA, will be working with both courses. The charge at these facilities, within the framework of the First Links program, is assessing elements within their properties that will improve the player experience and provide inviting elements to new golfers. The analysis includes exploring the overall playability of the golf course, opportunities to create forward and alternate tees, reviewing improvements and expansion of the existing practice amenities, pace of play issues including bunkering, playing corridor width, trees and mow lines. Schmidt-Curley Design opened China's White Stone Hot Spring Golf Club, located on Hainan Island. The layout, located just north of Sanya, boasts bold, sprawling bunkers that fank fairways routed through rolling landscape. Eight holes on the 7,011-yard par-72 hug the Changling Reservoir. White Stone Hot Spring GC is the 14th course that Schmidt-Curley Design has opened on Hainan Island since 2009. Kemper Sports added two properties to its management stable: Rockford Country Club, located in Rockford, Ill., originally was designed as a nine-hole layout in 1899. Kemper Sports also is managing Harborside International Golf Center in Chicago. It features two 18-hole golf courses (Port and Starboard). Braemer Golf announced an extension of its advisory contract with Muscat Hills Golf Course Project in Oman. Muscat Hills Golf and Country Club is Oman's frst 18hole championship golf course.
