Mr. Diaz, a 20-year member of GCSAA, was employed for 22 years as the golf course superintendent at Bighorn Golf Club in Palm Desert, Calif., where he oversaw 40 members of his staff, and all of them made sure the greens sparkled in the early morn- ing sun. Mr. Diaz is survived by his wife, Yvonne "Kissie" Reyna; sons, Carlos (Kristy) Diaz and Joseph Diaz III; daughter, Lorena "Nena" (Robert) Sterling; grandchildren, Carlos, Nikolas, Drew, Sadie and Cruz; great-niece, Celeste "Bootzie" Celaya; sisters, Mary "Chavela" and Christina "Kiki"; brothers, Gilbert and Andy; and grand- mother, Mary Salinas. John H. Fake, CGCS, 62, died Jan. 10, 2019. Mr. Fake, a 36-year member of GCSAA, served as the golf course superintendent at numerous places in the Southeast, including Hilaman Golf Course in Tallahassee, Fla. After retirement, he worked for the Wakulla County (Fla.) School District, maintaining the high school football field. He loved golf and his dogs and enjoyed watching Florida State University football. Mr. Fake is survived by his wife of 31 years, Renee Fake; son, Kenneth Fake; daughter, Sarah (Zac) Bobo; brother, Ken (Lori) Cooper; sister, Candace (Rod) Firth; and grandchildren, Gabriella, Gabriel and Gracelynn. Rick Kern, 63, died Dec. 27, 2018. Mr. Kern, a 35-year member of GCSAA, was a longtime employee, including as the golf course superintendent, at Hillcrest Golf Course in Durango, Colo. Longevity
