In April 2018, the golf club began an extensive $4 million golf course renovation project led by architects Dana Fry and Jason Straka. The newly reno- vated golf course reopened for member and guest play in November 2018. During renovations, Fry and Straka enhanced green complexes, rebuilt and repositioned bunkers, improved the course's drainage system and regrassed the course with new turfgrass. Turf Connections , producer of turfgrass sod and sprigs in the Carolinas, added longtime turf industry professional Glenn Quattlebaum to the staff as sales manager. Quattlebaum brings more than 35 years of golf and turf industry sales experience in the Carolinas and the Southeast. He earned a degree in biology from Erskine College. Based in Manning, S.C., Quattlebaum serves turfgrass customers throughout the Southeast in the home Tom Dudley of Jacksonville, Fla., is the recipient of the 2019 United States Golf Association Joe Dey Award . The USGA has presented the award annually since 1996 in recognition of an individual's meritorious service to the game as a volunteer. It is named for Joseph C. Dey Jr., who served as the USGA's executive director from 1934 to 1969 and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1975. Dudley, a native of Columbus, Ga., and past president of the Florida State Golf Association, has volunteered at more than 100 USGA championships as a rules official over the past 30 years, including 26 U.S. Opens. He has worked more than 300 FSGA championships and qualifiers in addition to his tenure as the organization's president from 2008 to 2009. Dudley served as a referee for countless high-profile players, including Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Adam Scott and Rory McIlroy. But his favorites include joining Buzz Taylor as the co-referee for the final 18 holes in the 1994 U.S. Amateur Championship at TPC Sawgrass, won by Woods, and during the 1997 U.S. Senior Open at Olympia Fields, receiving the assignment to walk with his good friend, Bob Duval, and Jack Nicklaus. Dudley will receive the award at the USGA's annual meeting and service awards dinner Feb. 23 in San Antonio. West Bay Club selected Troon to manage its member-owned private golf club in Estero, Fla. Located on 868 acres adjacent to Estero Bay and bordering 500 acres of nature preserve and wetlands, West Bay's original 18-hole golf course opened in 1999 and was designed PBI-Gordon hired Steve Clifford as chief operating officer. He was previously an audit partner and the managing partner of Ernst & Young's Kansas City office from 1999 through his retirement in 2015. Clifford, who has served as an advisory director on the PBI-Gordon board of direc- tors since 2015, is an experienced senior executive who successfully led several organizations during his career. In addition to his duties at PBI-Gordon, he also serves as a director on the board of Ferrellgas Partners, an American supplier of propane. In the newly created position of chief operating officer, Clifford directs operations of PBI- Gordon's three business units: Pest Management, PetAg and Pegasus Laboratories. Additionally, he will oversee the company's information technology and enterprise resource planning teams. Clifford will report directly to PBI-Gordon CEO Don Chew.
