Briggs & Stratton introduced its Advanced Formula Fuel Treatment, which it says allows superintendents and other maintenance professionals to protect their outdoor power equipment from the potentially damaging effects of ethanol-blended fuels. This proprietary treatment offers complete 5-in-1 en- gine protection, the company says. The super-concentrated, triple antioxidant formula aims to protect the entire fuel system from rust, corrosion, gum and varnish buildup as a result of water separation caused by ethanol fuel. Corrosion inhibitors form a protective barrier around metal parts to prevent rust and corrosion, while detergent ingredients help prevent gum and varnish buildup on engine parts. A metal deactivator also prevents the aggressive chemical reactions caused by dissolved metal ions in the fuel. The fuel treatment works with all gas engines, including 2-cycle engines that use a blend of oil and gasoline, and offers protection for up to three years.
